Upstairs of the pub The Royal Botanical is akin to an indoor greenhouse, live succulents are placed on every table and as much green as possible is factored into the decor. The result is a classy space to enjoy drinks and a sit down meal.
Tender Salt and pepper squid are generously dipped in chilli mayo – a classic for passing the time as you await your mains. Our Chicken schnitzel is fantastically crunchy even after allowing the herb butter to melt all over and a bowl of Slow Roast Lamb with eggplant, rice in a yogurt dressing is a very filling salad.
It’s compulsory to finish a meal on a sweet note so we sample Nutella donut and Tiramisu. The nutella donut is soft with a high dough to nutella ratio but easily polished off. However, I don’t fancy Tiramisu, I find it an unexciting dessert but we sample it nevertheless because it’s the only other dessert available – if tiramisu is your bae, well each to their own!
