Trialing Suppertime and Makizo Japanese
Disclaimer: MsBrulee received a $50 voucher courtesy of Suppertime. Opinions however are my own.
Suppertime is a food delivery service very similar to Menulog except the difference is Suppertime have connections with nicer and often, pricier restaurants.
Mixed sashimi (7pcs) $15.95 – salmon, tuna, white fish
Wagyu Beef Bento $36.30 – grilled beef teriyaki (rib eye 9+) with shimeji mushroom, seared beef nigiri sushi (3pcs), sushi roll (4pcs) & green salad
The wagyu is nicely cooked and the accompanying sushi rolls and nigiri is great. I can’t fault the food so this is an awesome meal.
Delivery from Edgecliff to Bondi Beach cost $6.95 bringing the total of this meal to $52.25 ouch, I mean yes, it’s Wagyu beef which is expensive in itself. But if I hadn’t been supplied a voucher, I would never have considered paying that much for a weeknight meal.
I pulled the regular prices off the same dishes from the Makizo Zomato page in total: is $13.50 + $32 = $45.50
So unsurprisingly there’s a markup to cover Suppertime’s charges and even though it’s about $5, I cannot stomach the cost already of the meal for one person let alone two.
The verdict: Delivery business like Suppertime have to make dough somewhere, if you can afford to eat at classy establishments, and want to continue consuming said classy establishment food in your own home, then by all means do so. I’m sticking with the more cost effective Menulog as I don’t have money to burn.
