Smoky grilled meats. Fresh, plump seafood. Full stomachs all round.
There are a few things that spell great night out for me and Kelly’s Bar and Grill can offer them: smoky grilled meat, ribs, fresh plump seafood and something nice and strong to wash it all down with.
Kellys Bar and Grill offer complimentary brioche challah and despite already being made of an obscene amount of butter – it didn’t hurt to slather some more on top of the warm, golden, stretchy, lightly sweet bread.
If you’re going to eat snails – best to have them at a restaurant that’s upper scale. And smothered in lots of garlicky parmesan sauce. I think snails have the texture of mushroom and because of the strong-flavoured sauce it’s cooked in, tastes just like parmesan.
A tasty, briny starter, grilled haloumi cheese and tomato make my mouth water every time.
The prawns are cooked very well, the batter is so crispy, whilst the inside is extremely plump – definitely get a large serving of this.
The eye fillet is soft and cooked perfectly medium rare as requested, the mash is buttery and smooth and the side of Kellys crispy onions provides crunch and that distinctively pungent onion flavour we love.
A little on the sweet side, the ribs easily fall off the bone. I adore how the smell of charcoal meat wafts into your nostrils and both pork and lamb ribs taste wonderfully smoky from the grill.
Gelato flavours of the evening varies; this evening there was salted caramel and chocolate – the texture of the gelato is creamy and the flavours spot on.
Being house baked I’m wary of dryness but the New York cheesecake is delightfully moist, the crust holds up yet crumbles in the mouth, a very satisfying end to the meal.
MsBrulee dined as guests of Kelly’s Bar and Grill. Opinions however are my own.
