Korean fried chicken, fresh from the sea sashimi and a complimentary bottle of wine?
Upon downloading the Free Wines app onto your phone, and visiting a participating restaurant. As long as you meet the minimum spend of said restaurant, you’re eligible for a free bottle of an award-winning wine to enjoy with your meal. I’ll let this handy little infographic explain the process:
My chosen restaurant is Danjee, a charming Korean restaurant nestled just off the frantic pedestrian-heavy George Street. Minimum spend here is $100 in order to receive a complimentary bottle of wine. I find that $100 nets a decent amount of food for two hungry people – add a full 750ml of vino and it’s a fun night out.
The beef was just a tad icy, understandably it needs to be frozen in order for it to be sliced in an aesthetically nice way. Once completely thawed and mixed with raw quail egg yolk, you have a creamy, light and fresh starter, a touch sweet from the sliced nashi pear and seasoned nicely.
Some chicken pieces were undercooked, still very pink and bloody closer to the bone. However once I notified a waiter, they immediately took it away and gave me the option of a fresh batch or another dish entirely. The pieces which were completely cooked through though were encased in the crunchiest fried batter, which gave way to moist, juicy, succulent chicken.
