Burnt Orange is a cafe located in the shopping mall, Chatswood Chase.
Situated in Chatswood Chase next to Zara, Burnt Orange serve up breakfast and lunch as well as high tea after 2:30pm on Sundays.
With the addition of sweet crab meat, I felt slightly posh eating crustacean first thing in the morning. Matched with perfectly poached eggs, the yolk still gloriously runny, what a fabulous start to the day.
I was most drawn to the luridly pink house-smoked trout, cured in beetroot juice, dips included a small dish of baba ganoush and a sweet beetroot jam that tasted tart and delicious spread over toast.
Underneath all the picturesque freeze dried raspberries, micro herbs and fluffy meringue is a tangy lemon and yuzu curd. The meringue only needs a little blowtorching to give this an extra visual and taste appeal.
This banoffee pie had everything I want in a banoffee pie: gooey caramel filling, layers and layers of cream and the perfume of ripe bananas – uhhhhhhh the dark Belgian chocolate curls as well as dark chocolate pastry upped the indulgence level another notch. My only complaint which really is a minor one is that the pastry was too thick around the sides, my preference is for a larger filling to pastry ratio.
I would say the lunch options at Burnt Orange are a little fancy for those occasions you’re feeling like something posh.
