The one place where you can have burgers and sashimi in one sitting
Burgers are indeed a focal point and drawcard at Bar Ume but the side dishes are absolutely worth a try too.
While you ponder your choice of burger bite into some Blanched green beans with a salty sweet black sesame miso dressing and snow crackers. This sauce and these tiny crunchy spheres make it very fun to eat vegetables with.
If ever you so desire to socialise with sashimi and burgers in the one restaurant, then you certainly can. Buri Daikon kingfish sashimi suke, daikon oroshi, shiso and nori sauce
To wash everything down, an Ume Summer Spritz umeysui, fresh cucumber, lychee liqueur and soda a super refreshing cocktail I can wholeheartedly recommend a thirst-quenching house soda in Yuzu and brown sugar
Because you should never have burgers without fries Hot chips with umami salt are perfectly crunchy, sprinkled with an addictive as crack umami salt. But when you add a side of Mentai mayo cod roe-enriched mayonnaise you’ve made an excellent, delicious decision.
Of the burgers themselves we sampled one fish and one beef. The Fish katsu burger containing a hand-crumbed fish fillet, the delicate white flesh simply flavoured with a creamy Japanese tartare sauce, iceberg lettuce and cheese. If looks are anything to go by Ume Burger is a stunner of a burger, that comes with wagyu mince sauce, tomato, onion, mayo and cheese. Made with 100% natural Angus beef minced daily and served on custom-made Hokkaido milk bun.
